So... where is the AAR (after action report) on the Kentucky Joe event? I was really sorry to miss it this year, but was in the middle of a move. Surely somebody must have gone. Fill us in!

Sorry its taken a bit, been pretty crazy here and have not had a lot of time for stuff.

Show wise, I went to two so far this summer. The DFW show in Texas and the Kentucky show most recently. Had a blast at the Texas show. Greg Brown and the crew pulled out all the stops and had a ton of the remaining GI Joe creators there. It was great catching up with folks we had not seen in like forever plus Brian Savage even showed up. He was like the Uncle you had not seen in awhile, once you started talking to him, it ended up being an over an hour long visit. I didn't get a lot of Joe stuff, just a few odds and ends, but I was able to finish off my 1/12 Saving Private Ryan set I have been building for the past few years. Also hooked up with the Valverse guys (prior Hasbro designers who broke free and went rouge) They do the Action Force line and their stuff is really nice.

As for the Kentucky show, as we hit the highway we received word that Char's step mom had passed that morning and the remainder of the drive she was on the phone with relatives. We got in Friday evening in time for the preview and attended the next day, but left immediately afterwards. Only thing I brought home was a few models to fix for my pals and a few odds and ends. The nicest thing I brought home was a custom bass guitar made by Pat Kelly for me. He painted it up with the left over markings from his 1/6 P-51 he built years ago when he ran diorama dreams. End of the day, I only picked up one figure from Marauders and a West Point sword and shoes. Also a set of broken ski poles. Needless to say, our heart just wasn't into the trip.

After the dust settled we had to get a roof on our house because of the repeated hail storms. A roof that our insurance deemed was damaged by hail previously and denied our claim. Biggest story though is finding out I had cataracts only after I lost vision in my right eye. Had noticed some cloudy vision and stuff but didn't realize how bad. The eye doc said I had a rapid strain of cataracts that takes the vision in under six months. (two for me). Last week I got my right eye fixed and go in next month for the other eye.

So yeah, been kinda busy. But we aren't building a house.

      Holy Cow!!!
Makes our life seem pretty relaxed.
Condolences to Char. Sorry for her loss.
Glad you got one eye fixed and got scheduled for the other. That sounds pretty scary!
      Good luck, amigo!
